Anthony
Maresco
Friday 12-18-98
The Vocal Group Fraternity lost another long time member. Anthony Maresco of Tony & The Dynamincs '59, Tony & The Twilighters '60
and Anthony & The Sophomores '63 - '66 passed on to Doo Wop Heaven. Tony 1st tenor voice was the
Hallmark for the afore mentioned groups. "Forever
Love/Betty My Own" on Herald in '59 were outstanding
tracks as the Dynamics. "The Key To My Heart" '60 on Red Top as the Twilighters is a Great uptempo cut. And as the Sophomores in the mid
60's with "Embraceable You" on Grand '66 and on
Jamie Records the Sophomores version of "One Summer
Night" These are the ones that come to mind when you think of Tony Maresco.
As recently as 1998 Tony was still singing. He and Frankie Lafaro of the Fashions cut "Loving Feeling"
as a duet on the Philly's Legend CD. Anthony Maresco passed on from complications of diabetes,
he was 54 years young. I want to pass
on my sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Anthony Maresco.~Info provided by Bruce Woolf |
